Unusual USBs

Posted in Technology with tags , on September 30, 2008 by gyma

I have a couple USB drives I use as backups for some of my data, like my genealogical database.  Mine are more mundane than these, but I’m thinking these would be easier to claim if left behind somewhere.

(I can’t do politics 24/7.  It’s starting to mess with my head!)

Toaster News

I’m suffering a bit from information overload these days, so maybe I’ll invest in one of these so I can read my news each morning on my toast!

Actually the picture doesn’t do this justice.

Floating Bed

As I get older I often don’t sleep very well.  Before I retired I thought it was because I had a jerk for a boss and I would spend hours re-running in my head all the stupid things he’d done that day.

Now that I’m retired, I can no longer use that excuse so I’ve come to believe it’s hormonal and I’ll either get over it or learn to live with it.

In the pursuit of the perfect night’s sleep, I came across this very expensive floating bed that is just about the coolest thing for the multi-millionaire in you.

It’s offered by an Amsterdam firm, Universe Architecture, uses magnets, floats about 20″ off the floor and apparently can hold nearly 2,000 lbs. of weight.  No more monsters under the bed, kiddies!

The price?  Full-size unit: $1.6 million and the smaller one that is 1/5 the size:  a reasonable $153,000.  Sold!

Foam Dome Home

You’ll never know what you might find when surfing the Internet.  Last night I was doing some research for another project and came across this:

Is this cool or what?  They are made in Japan and I couldn’t tell how much they cost, but you can find more information about this emerging technology here.

I would certainly consider this if I were in the market for a new house.

What? I said what?!

Like most aging people my hearing isn’t what it used to be and I miss it.  I flew to Chicago a couple of months ago to visit friends and was browsing through the inane and worthless Skymall catalog.  I’ve always thought this thing was packed with stuff no one really needed.

Lo and behold, there amongst the other technological wonders was a hearing aid disguised to look like a Blue Tooth headset!

Would you?
