Mad Men

Posted in Uncategorized on February 7, 2009 by gyma

madmenCan anyone explain the appeal of Mad Men?  We just finished watching the first 3 episodes and I thought it was very boring.  In fact I blogged through most of it because every time I looked up Don was smoking or screwing some woman who wasn’t his wife.

And for me, the treatment of the women at the office was way too reminiscent of the office culture for about the first 10 years of my working life.

I understand this is a favorite of Obama’s.  Why?!

Putin’s an ABBA Fan

Apparently Putin and McCain have something in common – ABBA.  Just think, if McCain had won the election, he and Cindy could have danced the First Dance to:

You’re a teaser, you turn em on
Leave them burning and then you’re gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance…

You are the dancing queen….

According to MSN, the British group, Bjorn Again, was paid $30K to perform for a very exclusive group of Russians (8 in all) including Putin.  The group also said  security was extraordinary, including a lace curtain that separated the band from the audience.

The audience’s apparent favorties?  “Super Trouper” and “Mamma Mia.”

Mamma Mia, is right!

And for the record, Putin is denying everything.

Wouldn’t it be depressing if polar bears ceased to exist?  I’ve requested The Last Polar Bear by Steven Kazlowski from my local library.

The Mail has more pictures and a short story about the photographer/author.
