The McCain-G. Gordon Liddy Connection
First off, isn’t this picture horrible? I mean, Letterman looks jaundiced by too much spray tan, and McCain looks like he’s just been embalmed. Sheesh!
I watched most of the Letterman interview last night but called it quits once Dave asked McCain about his association with G. Gordon Liddy. I read McCain’s response online this morning, and you can count me as one who doesn’t buy it.
So, here’s the thing. For every clump of mud McCain hurls at Obama, he has an equal or greater clump of mud in his own background. The difference? McCain has allowed himself to become a classless buffoon, saying absolutely anything if he thinks it will garner him an extra vote. McCain also knows that Obama will unlikely stoop to his degrading level so he feels safe in launching these attacks.
McCain lied to Dave so many times last night I lost count. He lied when Dave asked him if Palin was his first choice for Veep. He lied about the vetting process. He lied about how he and Palin routinely denounce their supporters at rallies who are yelling horrible things about Obama. He lied when he claimed equally offensive things were being yelled at Obama/Biden rallies. I wish Dave had asked McCain for some specifics on that one because McCain used the same line at the debate Wednesday night but I have yet to hear exactly what is being yelled. Is anyone suggesting that McCain is so old he should be euthanized?
As for G. Gordon Liddy, many people in the country will not know who he is, any more than they know what the Weather Underground and William Ayers were about. But talk about plumbers! Liddy hosted a fundraiser for John McCain at Liddy’s home where guests could have their picture taken with McCain and Liddy. It appears that the McCain-Liddy connection is much stronger than the Obama-Ayers connection, especially when McCain told Liddy’s radio audience that he was
“…proud of you, I’m proud of your family. It’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.”
